AI Crossword — Terms of Use (EULA)

Effective Date: April 2, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using AI Crossword (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is developed and published by Setagaya Studio ("we," "us," or "our").

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device that you own or control, subject to the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. This license does not allow you to distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the App.

3. Description of Service

AI Crossword generates themed mini crossword puzzles using artificial intelligence. You type a topic and the App uses the Anthropic Claude API to create an 8x8 crossword puzzle. The quality and content of generated puzzles depend on the AI model and may vary.

4. Subscription — AI Crossword Pro

The App offers an optional auto-renewable subscription called AI Crossword Pro that unlocks unlimited puzzle generation.

Price: $4.99 per month.

Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.

Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.

Managing your subscription: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by going to iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will continue to have access until then.

Free trial: If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

5. Refunds

All payments are processed by Apple. We cannot issue refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to use the App to generate content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, hateful, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right to restrict access to the App if we determine, at our sole discretion, that you are misusing the service.

7. AI-Generated Content

Puzzles are generated by artificial intelligence and may occasionally contain errors, inaccuracies, or unexpected content. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated puzzle. You use AI-generated content at your own discretion.

8. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services to function:

Anthropic (Claude API) — provides the AI that generates crossword puzzles. Use of this service is subject to Anthropic's terms.

RevenueCat — manages subscription processing. Use is subject to RevenueCat's terms.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App — including its design, code, graphics, and branding — are owned by Setagaya Studio. The puzzles generated for you are yours to enjoy, but the underlying technology remains ours.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Setagaya Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Setagaya Studio from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or to us. Upon termination, your license to use the App is revoked.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
